The Best Corporate Event Venues in San Diego

San Diego has already set the scene for you, now it’s time to choose the stage. Good choice on hosting your annual meeting, corporate get-together, conference, convention, or team retreat in San Diego. This Southern California city is about as hospitable as it gets. From an active food scene, diverse culture, and absolutely killer sunsets, San Diego is a welcoming place for your associates, leadership, or clients to meet, greet, initiate, and activate.

The Vendry has put together some of the top choices of corporate event venues in the greater San Diego area. From a spot to host a celebratory dinner, to a large venue for a conference, The Vendry has you covered for all things San Diego.

1. Petco Park

Neighborhood: Petco Park
Capacity: 1650 standing

Aside from being the home of the San Diego Padres, Petco Park serves as one of the area’s largest and most unique event venues. Truly “a venue like no other”, this stadium/concert venue/event space is a special place to hold an unforgettable corporate experience. The Padres Foundation threw their annual “Dinner on the Diamond” fundraiser here last spring, as they transformed the field into an elegant dinner for 580. Don’t let Petco Park’s massive size intimidate you – there’s tons of alternative spaces other than the playing field to hold your corporate event. Spaces like the newly renovated Premier Club can seat 280 people, or present in the 4,500 square foot auditorium that comes fully equipped with all the audio/visual you would need. Any event thrown here will be a total home run.

2. Venue 808

Neighborhood: East Village
Capacity: 1000 standing, 350 seated

The East Village is home to Venue 808, a spot perfect for your panel discussion or annual meeting. There’s a whopping 18,000 square feet of space at Venue 808, as well as a sunken lounge and full bar. Take advantage of their two breakout rooms with televisions, perfect for small, high-level meetings. Venue 808 works exclusively with Social Tap Catering, so your F & B will be a snap. They have a preferred vendor list if you are looking for certain items like specialized rentals, but they avail metal farmhouse tables and chairs for guest use.

3. USS Midway Museum

Neighborhood: Marina
Capacity: 4000 standing, 1200 seated

Salute the red, white, and blue at the USS Midway Museum, a popular event venue in San Diego where the main star is the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century. An event here is one your team will never forget. Midway Museum’s meeting spaces are actually aboard a restored United States aircraft carrier. Book the USS Langley Conference Room, that can fit 30 people, complete with audio/visual, and six wall-mounted televisions. Host large receptions on the Hanger Deck or Flight Deck. Enhance your meeting with flight simulators, docent tours, skydivers, or even fireworks. Watch your business cohorts climb into the cockpits of display aircraft to perform their best Maverick impression. It might be tough to find a more inspirational spot for your team meeting than the USS Midway Museum.

4. Building 177

Neighborhood: Midway District
Capacity: 750 standing

Filled with history and big enough to hold your whole company, Building 177 was once the Naval Training Center Library but now is a versatile event space for up to 750 people. There’s 7000 square feet of opportunity at Building 177. This unique venue boasts vaulted ceilings making it a great space for trade shows or conferences. Moniker Events runs the show here, and their professional experience will guide you to the custom event of your dreams. Their list of approved vendors is long and varied, making certain that all your audio/visual and rental needs are met.

5. Miss B’s Coconut Club

Neighborhood: Mission Beach
Capacity: 138 seated

The team has been on their feet all day, so now it’s time to kick them up! Miss B’s Coconut Club is the picture-perfect spot to applaud a big client win, closing of a sale, a promotion, or other corporate celebration. This Caribbean-inspired joint has been a part of the Mission Beach landscape for as long as anyone in San Diego can remember. Not only can you come to Miss B’s Coconut Club for a corporate lunch or dinner, but rent out the entire place for a breakfast meeting, and treat your staff to such indulgences like Cubano Benedict or Coconut Rum French Toast. The spirit is infectious here, and their sweet staff will always make sure your team is “havana” a good time.

6. Sparks Gallery

Neighborhood: Gaslamp
Capacity: 350 standing, 100 seated

Housed in a historic space in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, Sparks Gallery is adorned with contemporary art and ready to host your corporate crowd. Use this space for your corporate meeting or celebration however you see fit. Feel free to work with any local vendor to make your event go off without a hitch. Sparks Gallery is walking distance from the San Diego Convention Center, and perfectly reflects the unique urban energy that is the Gaslamp Quarter.

7. POP Studio

The Best Event Checklist

As a seasoned professional, you already know that there are certain items on every planner’s list that need to be checked for nearly every event. But when booking your corporate event venue in San Diego, be sure to consider the following:

·  Crowd size. Make sure your venue fits your crowd.

·  Event vibe. Make sure your crowd fits your venue.

·  Price. Double check every fee, rental cost, and vendor charge – and get it in writing.

·  Travel. Be sure your crowd can easily find and access your venue choice.

·  Tech Check. What does your venue have for audio/visual and what do you need to rent?

·  Weather preparation. While it's typically mild Portland, be sure to plan for inclement weather should any portion of your event bring guests outside.

·  Transport. Be certain to have your guests stay close to your venue, or plan for their transportation to get there.·  Go green. Gratefully, Portland has many city-wide initiatives to follow when it comes to earth-friendly actions, so make sure your event complies.
